Gosainkunda is another miracle in Nepal,
successful to please all explorers and gratify all pilgrims who arrive to
admire her beauty and perform a sacred worship. Yes, Gosainkunda is a holy and
alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake situated in Nepal’s Langtang National Park.
This beautiful structure enhances the loveliness of the Rasuwa District and
lies at an amazing altitude of 4,380m/14,370ft. It feels good when you know
that you are about to walk into Nepal with Gosainkunda Trek.
Gosainkunda is a significant place
of interest and religion in the Dhunche – Helambu trekking region. The Hindu
mythology defines the lake as the residence of legendary deities Goddess Gauri and Lord Shiva. Its water is believed to encompass strong significance
during Gangadashahara and the sacred festival Janai Purnima when thousands of pilgrims
all around the country and some neighbouring countries arrive at the site to
visit. They say that taking a holy dip in this lake fulfils one’s wish makes
him free from all his sins.
Our Gosainkunda
Trek either starts from Dhunche or Syabrubesi. However, an alternate route
is also possible that can be started from Sundarijal; a place just outside the
rim of Kathmandu. Our trekking route shall provide us convenience in context of
food and accommodation. This day, a lot of teahouses and lodges have been built
for the sake of tourism in the region. The trails are very well – marked, but
between Ghopte and Thorepati, where chances of losing way are quite real.
